Mapacho is the common name for a tabacco product, derived from the Nicotiana Rustica or wild tabacco. It is a potent variety of the tabacco plant that contains relatively high amounts of nicotine. Mapacho is often used for entheogenic purposes by South-American shamans, where it is considered a sacred plant with profound healing qualities. Almost all the rapé mixtures contain at least some amount of mapacho. Mapacho gives a sense of grounding, calmness and clears the mind from worrying thoughts. For this reason it is often used prior or during ayahuasca ceremonies.
