#56 Bobinsana Chocolate Rapé  Mapacho free  Wild Amazonian Arriba Nacional Fine Aroma Cocoa

Ecuadorian Bobinsana Chocolate Rapé is a lovely and gentle energizer. This is a mild snuff, profound and full of light!

This Bobinsana Chocolate Rapé was made in the Chocó region of the Ecuadorian Andes, where the lowlands meet the forest of the mountains and the rivers flow pristine from the highlands and páramos. This is the place where this family project is blossoming while the hummingbirds fly around us. This blend was made with all the love and the intentions for all of us to find guidance, abundance and joy.

Our Bobinsana Chocolate Rapé is a unique rapé based on the highest grade fine aroma cocoa (Theobroma cacao) from the higher Ecuadorian amazon forest (700 meters altitude) . For this rapé we managed to convince some beautiful indigenous families to share their private crop of cocoa pods that they havest from trees planted by their grandparents over 50 years ago.

Of course we removed all the cocoa butter to work only with the finest dried power from the cocoa seeds.

As a booster for this rapay we used the tree bark from mature Guaba (Inga edulis). The Guaba tree is a pionering tree popular among many forest animals like tucan’s and monkeys due to the lovely sweet pods with fruity seeds that they produce. The bark of the tree is filled with calcium and good vines which makes it a great source for rapé ash.

The third ingredient of our Bobinsana Chocolate Rapé is Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia) a wonderful heart opening energizing tree of which we used the leaves that we harvested along the banks of small clean rivers in the higher Amazon.

Bobinsana

Calliandra angustifolia also commonly known as Bobinsana is a shrubby tree. It is normally found growing along the river banks and streams till it attracted the water-loving plant as a name. It is a wonderfully green plant that is about 4 to 6 meters high when mature that is also found in streams in the Amazon Basin. The other names of this powerful plant are chipero, koprupi, shawi, kuanti, yopoyo, balata, capabo among others. It is quite easy to identify the plant due to its pink to reddish powderpuff-like flowers that it produces which is typical or accredited to the Mimosa family whence it comes from. Its nativity being South America, Bobinsana is found in large numbers along Mayo and Huallanga rivers found in Eastern Peru. It also does well and highly able to grow along the streams in the warm valleys and cloud forests on the slopes of Eastern Andrea 1500 meters high. On a commercial level, Bobinsana produces a resinous gum that is normally sold to the people interested.

Famous amongst Amazon indigenous

Calliandra angustifolia is famous in Amazon among the Indians and the Peruvians due to its  properties. While the Indians prepare a decoction of its roots for strength and energy (stimulant), the Peruvians prepare a bark tincture that heals arthritis, rheumatism, bone pains, colds and to boost their immune system. Moreover, in Peruvian herbal medicine, its bark decoction is considered to be a contraceptive, tonic and depurative.

What is Rapé?

Rapé, pronounced ‘ha-pey’ is a tradition used by various indigenous tribes of South America, predominantly from the tribes people of Brazil and Peru. Rapé is a snuff which is blown into each nostril through a pipe known as a ‘Tepi’.  Which is either made from a hollow bone or bamboo. Each tribe has their own formula of plants, trees, seeds, most commonly combined with a pure form from the Amazon and an ash called tsunu, or others like Murici, Yarumo, or Inga. The rapé is prepared in a ritualistic way by specific members of the tribe.

Spirit of Nature

In some tribes, it is the women who gather the ingredients and make the Rapé, and others are made by the healer of the tribe. Typically they are made in small batches with specific intentions for the ceremony or person being treated. These are very powerful, profoundly healing and cleansing on many levels. The use of Rapé aims to connect one to the spirits of nature while invoking that power to bring about physical and spiritual healing.

Kuripe or Tepi

Traditionally, it is administered through either the Tepi or Kuripe. The Kuripe is a for self-administration and the Tepi is used when blowing the snuff for another person. The V-shaped applicator or Kuripe, connects the nostril to the mouth. The Tepi is a long blow pipe that connects the nostril of the receiver with the mouth of the blower, who then blows the rapé into the nose of the receiver.

Opening the Chakras

In general, the tribes believe Rapé facilitates the opening and clearing of the chakras, facilitates a sense of grounding and connection to the earth.  Some think it supports the release of disease from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.  Furthermore some say that using rapé opens the third-eye chakra, decalcifies the pineal gland, clears mental fog and confusion. Finally it releases negative thought patterns and most of all it supports our connection to the breath and expands our connection to Spirit.
